CanGym & CanJump

The CANGYM program includes three levels of skills progressions based on Gymnastics Canada’s FUN, FITNESS, and FUNDAMENTALS Educational Philosophy. This non-competitive program allows participants to learn and develop gymnastics skills without the need to specialize in the sport.

As athletes advance through the badges, movement patterns and skills gain quality, self-confidence increases and sport ethics and gym rules are introduced and accepted. The athlete establishes sound basic skills on gymnastics apparatus, posture and core-strength allowing them to continue in more advanced gymnastics programs or transition these skills to other sports.

CANGYM beginner

The Beginner level incorporates the first three badges which are Burgundy, Red, and Tan. The main focus is on fun and participation with activities aimed at enhancing physical and emotional literacy.

CANGYM intermediate

This is the second step in the Canadian Gymnastics Federation badge program in which gymnasts develop more complex skills. The intermediate level consists of the next three badges including Bronze, Purple, and Blue. Further development of gymnastics skills accompanies the development of social behavior in a group or team setting.

CANGYM advanced

For the dedicated gymnast, this final step incorporates the remaining badges which are Turquoise, Silver, Orange, Yellow, Green and Gold. This athlete often needs more than one class a week to fully develop advanced level skills. In this stage there is a strong focus on the development of gymnastics skills and the desire to refine agility, balance, coordination and flexibility.

Trampoline & Tumbling

With the same principles as the CanGym badge programs, the CANJUMP program teaches the basic skills involved in trampoline and tumbling, while developing physical, social and cognitive literacy.

The CANGYM and CANJUMP programs were designed for participants of varying abilities aged 6 and older, including beginner level participants through to entry-level competitive gymnasts. Utilizing the CANGYM and CANJUMP badge programs allows participants, coaches, and parents to monitor progress in addition to being a motivational tool for athletes.
